General statement and goal of Amidaji

Amidaji International Temple is a religious  organization dedicated to the goal of helping all beings receive simple faith in Amida Buddha. Its mission is to preserve, protect and transmit the authentic Amida  Dharma[1] (orthodox Jodo Shinshu Buddhism).

Amidaji recognizes the literal existence of Amida Buddha and His Pure Land, thus encouraging all beings to entrust to Him, say His Name in faith and gratitude, and wish to be born there after death.

Amidaji has a traditional connection with the Hongwanji-ha (Nishi Hongwanji) branch of Jodo Shinshu school, but it functions as an independent Jodo Shinshu Buddhist organization on the basis of its own (present) Constitution and regulations, thus being open to all people interested in the Jodo Shinshu teaching, no matter which branch they belong to. Our connection means that we inherit the essentials of Jodo Shinshu teaching as transmitted within the Nishi Hongwanji branch.  We are grateful to the dedication and efforts made by the many generations of Hongwanji followers and we promise that we’ll continue their work within Amidaji.

The doctrine of Amidaji and the general guidelines for teaching and understanding Jodo Shinshu Buddhism in our organization are expressed in the book Amida Dharma (click here to read). Its study is an obligation for any follower. If somebody can’t read it, it will be read to him by the priest or one of the Dharma colleagues. Amida Dharma contains the minimum knowledge required for a member of Amidaji. It is the standard of presenting the Jodo Shinshu teaching in our temple. Any text or book which goes against Amida Dharma will not be taken into consideration at Amidaji.

Rev Josho Adrian Cirlea
Head  priest of Amidaji International Temple:

If I write something true and useful on this website for others awakening to faith, this comes from Amida Buddha’s influence on me. If I say something wrong the fault belongs to my unenlightened and limited personality. Thus, I ask the reader to always compare what I write with the words of the sutras and the Masters of our school and do not believe me just because I am a priest.

VERY IMPORTANT:
Our time is limited, so I intend to use it wisely.
This means that I accept to enter into public or private communication only with people who have a sincere interest in hearing the Amida Dharma as it was taught by Shakyamuni and the masters of our tradition. But those who are searching for debates, who distort this Dharma with their own opinions or who mix it with other paths from inside or outside the Buddha's teaching, are kindly requested to go to other places and teachers.
