Calendar of observances at Amida-ji Temple

This calendar is a work in progress. My intention is to provide a daily event or character related to Pure Land  Buddhism, similar to calendars of other religions so that followers have something to remember and be inspired every day.

Some events are similar to the calendar of other Jodo Shinshu branches, while others are added or adapted by me for a deeper appreciation of various historical figures, events and important elements of our teaching.

The dates of some celebrations are not decided on the basis of historical accuracy, as for example, I do not know when Nagarjuna, the Chinese masters or other important figures in the calendar were born or died but were arranged in that order because it is more convenient to celebrate them at those dates.

New Year at Amidaji temple is celebrated on the occasion of the Chinese New year.
Every date of 16th, each month is dedicated to Shinran Shonin (Shuso-gakki-Hoyo)
Every date of 17th each month is the Day of all Buddhas Witness
