An example of the false teachings of Kiyozawa Manshi

- please read the two updates bellow and click on the highlighted words in the text
as they lead to important articles! -

Kiyozawa Manshi
“It is not because of their existence that we believe in gods and Buddhas, but rather, they exist because we believe in them.” (Kiyozawa Manshi, Otani Daigaku 2003: 284)

This is false, completely false! Amida Buddha and His Pure Land exist independently of our faith in them or our doubt. If Amida exists just because we believe in Him, then He is nothing more than an imagination, a symbol or a fictional character – exactly what false modernist teachers want you to believe. And Kiyozawa Manshi is just another exotic guy they are using for their goal.
Please be aware! Many false teachers have nice and beautiful sayings in their literary work, which taken separately might sound ok, but if you look carefully you will certainly find grave errors like the above. And one such sentence should be enough for you to simply stay away or do not recommend such teachers to others, especially if they are beginners and not yet established in faith.

Update:
Many reacted angrily at this small post which was originally placed on my Facebook page, saying that this passage from Manshi, although wrong, does not compromise his entire work. However, things are clear for those who have eyes to see - not only that this statement of Manshi is wrong, but it is a horror! Nowhere in our sacred texts can we find such a negation of the existence of Amida Buddha. I am really not surprised at all, that many nowadays false teachers, like Shigaraki, Unno and Bloom are great fans of Manshi...

It does not matter if this Manshi was the author of great religious texts, the fact that he said the above words (which are often quoted by our contemporary false teachers) is enough to put him in the category of those who slander AmidaDharma. Anybody can make mistakes, because we are ordinary unenlightened people, but I am telling you this, dear friends, even if I was drunk I could never ever say such a horror - that Amida Buddha exists because I believe in Him! This is truly unthinkable, and I am very sad to see that many nowadays teachers do not have the courage to take down the statue of this false idol of modern heresies and wrong views.

Update 2:

In the photo on the right (click on it to enlarge it), you can see a fragment from the wrong teachings of Kiyozawa Manshi as expressed by his followers, later organized into the Dobokai movement and promoted especially in the heretical Higashi (Otani-ha) organisation. This fragment is taken from this link (click here). So, what do we have here? The same old story about denying that birth in the Pure Land takes place after death, thus clearly contradicting Honen, Shinran and Rennyo ...

How far this statement goes from the true teaching of Shakyamuni Buddha and the Masters of our lineage you can see in this collection of passages:

A Collection of Passages on the True Meaning of Birth in the Pure Land

Please read this collection carefully and compare it with the words of Manshi and his deluded old and new followers!

PS:
I recently saw that there is also a small discussion on Kiyozawa Manshi on the trueshinbuddhism online group. You might wish to check it out:

I also reccomend you my book against modern wrong views, especially those who consider Amida Buddha to be a fictional character or metaphor:

The True Teaching on Amida Buddha and His Pure Land

I also believe that Amida Buddha is a real and living Buddha and the Pureland is a real place. One of the reasons I believe that so much is because Shakymuni Buddha himself confirmed that right in the Sutras. If we can't trust and believe what a fully enlightened Buddha says, then who can we believe? Namo Amida Butsu

Indeed, Jeremiah, it is as you said. We should simply accept in faith, Shakyamuni's teaching on Amida Buddha and His Pure Land from the Larger Sutra.
